Step 1: Measure your baseline. Before anything else, establish where you are now. This can be more lucrative and more certain than open-market credit sales.

Step 5: Don't change practices solely for carbon revenue. This is the most important advice. Adopt cover crops because they improve soil health and reduce input costs. Transition to reduced tillage because it saves fuel and builds soil structure. Plant trees because they provide windbreaks, habitat, and diversified income.
